27 May50. Removed Temple A, W. cella, east side (aisle) N 0-4.80 2021-X, light colored soil, loose with "chavara" - crushed sandstone, and many rough stones about notebook size on average, about 3/8 bucket of sherds. This area has been dug down to this level before war so there is a possibility that some of the sherds may have come from higher and in-
filtrated into the stratum. Four small tile frags. No other finds. Placed tile frags. with sherds. Removed Temple A, east cella, W. side (aisle) N 0-8, 1973-1, many rough stones for which see Film 140-32; about 1 1/4 buckets of sherds, about 1/2 bucket of tiles only - all fill probably. F 1115, a ter. lamp frag. of saucer type w. pinched lip. Placing tiles on west wall at N 6.50. Removed also same aisle N 8-14, same stratum (1973-1) about 1/2 bucket of sherds, about 1/4 bucket of tiles only and F 1116-18 incl. For stones see also Film 140-32 (N 0-14). SE Bldg. court. See p. 2010 for E 0-6, S 11.50-14.00, same stratum. Removed E 12-20, S 15-17, 2029-2, and 2031-2 (0-25 cm. below top of S. wall of court) loose brown soil with small rough stones, very few large ones - no worked stones - over 1/2 bucket of sherds, over 1 bucket of tiles, no other finds. Placing tiles on wall at S. 17.00 E 16.00. Removed Temple A, E cella, west aisle, N 0-8, 1973-2, loose brown soil, many rough stones for which see Film 141-10 (???) about 1/3 bucket of sherds, 7 small frags. of tiles, placed on east wall at N 6.00. Some frags. of iron & bronze in box with sherds in sherd bag, one coin F 1119. Stratum does not change here but I am levelling off at this depth just a little below top of what appears to have been a foundation course for W. & S. walls. See Film 141-11. Am sieving 1973-2 and 3.

29 May50. Set up fallen shaft, drum, of column, no. 235 (see draughtsman's catalogue) on S. stylobate of S.E. Bldg. court at 4.905 m. east of W. wall of court (w. stylobate) being what I have computed to be 2 intercolugniations 2 x 2.4525 m. or one fourth of the distnce between the east stylobate wall and the west stylobate. At this point on the south stylobate it is easy to distinguish the area of the stone where the drum stood. See Film 141-1,2,3, & 4. The distance between the east and west stylobate wall is slightly less than the distance bewtsween the the point of meeting of the two engaged half columns on the S.W. corner and the point on the S.E. corner which appears to have been under the central axis of the column that once stood there. This last distance is 5 x 2.4525.
