Diary page 151 April 4. Dug 4th stratum Trench 1 gamma-delta south 6-8. Continued clearing steps to Temple A & removing earth from water trough leading to cistern.
April 6. Trench 7 to Lambda. At Phi trench takes a more easterly direction to make it perpendicular to walls K-Lambda east 0-4. 38 men almost every day.
April 7. Found an altar with a great quantity of terracottas Trench 7 west 0-2. Dug second stratum in water trough (the south one) as far east as where the foundation on Stoa Street goes over it. The second stratum begins just barely below the surface of the trench & is apparently an unbroken and consistent stratum. Today four coins found in this second stratum - nos. 154, 155, 158 & 159 (p. 129 & 137). These may date sherds in trough & latest date of the use of the trough. This trough may well be contemporaneous with one leading from the neighborhood of Temple A to Temple B & antedating the south steps of Temple B.

April 8. West of wall at west end of Stoa 0-4 Lambda-Mu began removing third stratum. See photo p. 135 no. 24. West of South Building about 0-1 m. Gamma-Zeta removed third stratum leaving sample of same. Gamma-Delta-50-E west 1-4 removed third stratum. Also E-Z west 2-4 third stratum. West of South Building 0-2 H-Theta removed fourth stratum to rock bottom showing foundation of west wall of South Bldg. Finished digging west of South Building 0-4 I-Kappa second stratum. Trench 1 finished digging surface soil I-K south 0-18. Removed second stratum from trench 1 a-gamma south 10-14 - room contained in this area. See photo of pot inscription as found in this Room. See p. 135, no. 21. Also coin find no. 161 found in this stratum also No. 164 on floor (top of third stratum). Sherds of same pot found both in 1st & 2nd stratum & pot lies on 3rd. B 1 B 3
April 9. Trench 5 B-Gamma west 4-6 second stratum cleared altar south of wall cutting it Trench 7.
April 10. Good Friday. No work. April 11. 8 men only South Building. Trench 5 A-B west 4. Trench 7 E-Z west 0-4 (just north of wall cutting Altar). 2nd stratum light soil, tiles & small stones.
