species. However, it is possible that [handwritten: in all of the frames of this panel] this panel had birds [handwritten: there were birds] in all its frames. That any animal or object other than birds fishes or birds would have been depicted in these frames is improbable because of the [handwritten: incongruity] incongruity of such other animals or objects with the birds and fishes in the panel immediately to the south and because of the repetitive nature of floor mosaics.

Both these two southern panels contained cruciform shapes. In the two northern panels, only enough is preserved to show that they were of the same size as the two to the south, contained similar, small frames, large cruciform designs and that the northernmost panel was a circle within a square and the panel directly to the south of it, in outline, rectangular. As these two nothernmost panels have the same general scheme of the two panels to the south and show the same alternation between circular and rectangular designs, one may safely assume that they, also, contained in their frames delineations of birds and fishes. The four panels on the west side (10) of the inner court [handwritten: (13-17)] show a comparable alternation of two different cruciform shapes.

All four panels probable each contained pictures of both birds and fishes. However, as no fish or trace of fish is preserved in the third panel from the north, it is possible that served in the third panel from the north, the next panel to the north, this panel contained only birds, the next panel to the north, birds and fishes and the northernmost of these four southernmost panels, only fishes. In such an arrangement, the panel
