is close to Plus 0.36 m. as compared to an average of plus 0.30 m. in exedra 3, and of a computed average of about 0.29 m. at the north end of the stylobate in exedra 2 (see above p. [handwritten: )]
Both orthostates in the east arm of the east stylobate wall at the north end are in part extant, but only the west one is preserved to its original height at level plus 0.26 m. It rests on the east [handwritten: xx] stylobate wall, which extends here up to and over the foundation of the north wall without being bonded at a maximum level of - 0.21 m. The top of the wall seved as a foundation for the floor between the east arm of the stylobate wall and the north wall. There is no trace of this floor and it is not certain whether it was paved or not. The first [handwritten: step] in the stairway lies between the more easterly of the two orthostates and the west wall of the exedra. It [handwritten: t]read at level -0.08 m. probably not much higher than that of the non extant floor. It consists almost entirely of a single block which extend from the orthostate up to 0.09 m. short of the east wall, the remaining space being filled in with small rough stones (Film 169-2). Step 2 is crudily constructed in rubble as will be seen in the photograph and one suspects that this is repair work. The top of step 2 is at level plus 0.19 m. or some 0.17 m. below the top of the course of plinths (see diagram [handwritten: p. )]
If we add 0.10 m. to the level of the course of plinth for the e heighth of the course of coping blocks we have level -0.46 m. for the top of that course, and if we assume that the floor was approximately 0.035 m. below that level we have level 0.425 for the floor of the east platform to which the stairay leads. As we shall see the top of the [handwritten: xx] platform was plus 0.77 m. which allows us about 0.05 m. for the thickness of the floor which may be approximately foundation of the floor of the west platform was plus 0.77 m. which allows right for one constructed in lime concrete. To reach that level we should have to restore a third step 0.235 m. in heighth. There is a bit of evidence here that such a step once exsisted although its heighth can
