THE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM of Archaeology/Anthropology

November 14, 1984Dear Ellen:

With regard to funding for the photography for your picture book I have had the following response from the Director:

"Herscher - schedule photography for January, 1986 - will fund on next allocation."

This means that we will have to put in a budget request in specific detail (how many new negatives, what size final prints etc.) by Nov. 15, 1985.

Please bear this in mind so as to be able to give me the information needed well in advance of Nov. 15.

Item 2: Stuart Swiny visited us recently and it was necessary to consult the Lapithos field record cards - the large 5 x 8" cards with the catalogue entries pasted on them and usually a small photograph of the object. These were my last resort in trying to locate the pieces in which he was interested. The file drawers where they were kept were totally empty. I did find out that A. Hadjis had the Iron Age ones at home and got them back from her. I can only assume that you borrowed the Bronze Age ones and have them with you.

I must ask that you return these to us and leave them here. These are official Museum records and should never leave the Museum. I will appreciate your cooperation.
