January 31, 1984Dear David:

I am glad to inform you that the Director has approved your request for 750.00 "to cover the cost of the draughtsman to execute the final drawings" for your publication.

Let me know about payment of this. You will have to submit receipts for this, of course.

I did send you the xeroxes you requested before Christmas. Do let me know if you have received them.

Since then I have been putting in a lot of time on your behalf. In connection with the photographs you wanted, I thought it would be a simple matter to dig out the negatives on your lists but was I ever mistaken! It transpired that there were no film lists for any of Fales outdoor activities and that it would be difficult to match up your requests with his entries without them. Especially since some film numbers were duplicated etc. etc.

At any rate, since New Year's much of my time has been devoted to making the lists. I have completed 66 out of the 76 so the end is in sight. Then I should be able to match up the actual negatives with the prints pasted in the notebooks and get things finally straightened out. I hope to be able to order the prints some time in February; they should follow a bit later in early spring.

Best greetings,
