In order to process the increasingly greater number of applications the Endowment receives in the fairest and most efficient manner possible, we have recently installed an automatic data processing system. A special form is enclosed for the purpose of enrolling you in this system. If you have already filled out this form, please discard it unless you wish to change information provided earlier. We ask that you specify carefully your fields of interest and specialization to ensure that you receive only those applications that are appropriate.

It will be most helpful if you can mail your review to us within three weeks of receiving the application. A business-reply envelope is enclosed for this purpose. A copy of the General Research Program guidelines is also enclosed for your information. If you have any questions or if we can assist you in any way, please contact me or a member of the Program staff at (202) 786-0207.

On behalf of the Endowment, let me express our gratitude for your contribution of time and expertise to our review process.

Sincerely,
