Dear Roger,

I assure you that I feel no animosity toward Saul and am cooperating with him as best I can in the circumstances. The enclosed copy of my letter to him will give you an idea of how things stand in this difficult matter of Area E.

I am not quite sure what the problem is in regard to the UM numbers. Do you mean that you have checked the actual objects in the UM collection against the catalogue and found in numerous cases that the UM number is not given in the catalogue? I should be surprized at this because, even if I had missed some items, I think that Miss Bruckner, who was a very careful editor, would have picked them up. Or do you mean that some objects listed as being in the UM (those with accession numbers) cannot actually be located? Or has the accession number worn off some pieces? You might ultimately have to get a shelf list from the Cyprus Museum.

I will check old lists when I know exactly what I am looking for.

Do you ever get up to Connecticut? It really wouldn't be so much farther to here and we'd be very pleased to have you as a guest. Our feline population now numbers four, although the one you knew, Kambi Lee, died last summer of old age (17). Where does that put us!

Greetings,
