Dear David:

By this time long since you will have received your photograph. I hope the size was all right or could be adjusted to suit.

I did not answer the final question of your letter of February 7 because at the time I did not see much prospect of financial assistance. From here, that is. Recently, however, I had a talk with Martin Biddle, our new Director, and he has given me much reason to think he would be both sympathetic and helpful. I would suggest that you might write him direct stating the history of your project (citing my support, of course), stating your plans and aspirations. Also of course enclosing estimates of all possible expenses, basic and peripheral. I enclose a list of the various kinds of expenses you may encounter to serve as guidelines. You may think of others. He is in and out of the country a good deal and will be away a good part of the summer so get this in promptly if you hope for anything for the coming summer.

He wanted me to tell all our authors that he plans to publish Museum undertakings in a Museum series. I do not know what the format will be but would hope it would be better than the preceding Museum monographs series.

Best greetings.
