March 25, 1975Professor G. Roger Edwards The University Museum 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia, PA 19014

Dear Roger:

Sorry for the long delay in replying to your letter of January 26th and your reminder of March 9th, but I felt that a cooling-off period was definitely called for. During it, I have decided that I cannot apply for a grant to subsidize the Bamboula photos. They should have been sent to me long ago, when I was to have received all Bamboula photos, except those having to do with the tombs and objects. Also, I did not ask the University Museum for the privilege of publishing Bamboula; I was asked to take it on in an emergency in order to assist the Museum. I do not see that I have any obligation to assist in financing the publication.

I shall continue to work with the photos which I now have, and which may prove sufficient to illustrate my text. When the ms. is finished, I'll send it to you with suggestions for the illustrations and you can take it up from there. Perhaps meantime, what with a new policy will have changed in the meantime, what with a new Director.

Good luck with Gordion.

Yours.
