Dear Fro:

I don't know if you are the person to whom I should now write this, but since you are the one with whom I last corresponded about the Bamboula architecture, I thought I'd tell you that I've been here all summer and have been working on both Bamboula and Tel Anafa. As I had written, all of Pete's ms. was here and I got it out as soon as I arrived. Since then, I have worked away on getting all the material back in mind and re-establishing my train of thought. I also had my first chance to see what Jack Benson had written in his two long articles in RDAC and in the Kourion-Bamboula volume put out in Jerusalem, though the volume was most difficult and I finally found it only at the Hebrew University. Fortunately, I was able to find all three here be the Museum. I had never received eopies of any of these, which would have facilitated my work considerably, but I did find them.

Now that I am about the leave - I go to Athens on the 15th for a week and then up through Europe - I can say that I am about finished with the editing of Pete's ms. on Area A, which also sketched out a Preface and an is the largest area. I have also sketched out a Preface and an Introduction. Of course, Area A was the most recently revised section and can be published with little change. Area E, and some of the smaller areas, for which Pete left no ms.. will not be so easy, but I think that I now have them well in mind.

I'd like to work on Bamboula as much as possible over the fall and winter and then be ready for a final check on the site when I get back here in the spring. I would hope to be back in late March or April. I have not now worried about photographic illustration, though I do have contact prints of most of the photos taken. I feel that can wait until I have a finished ms.; it is more important to see that the plans are in good shape. I do see that there are small additions to be made here and there.

I have just had occasion to write to Vassos Karageorghis mentioned to him that I am back at Bamboula. this evening, so thought He chided me for my extreme slowness last time we met, so thought he'd be happy to know I had reformed, thanks to retirement.

You will, I trust, tell the proper people of my current efforts. I'll be in touch when photos are needed, etc. I expect to be back in Columbia on September 11 and can be reached there after that.

All the best, [handwritten: Frank Hereahan]
