Dear Prof. Edwards:

Our Department is considering returning to Cyprus for an excavation project in the near future. My colleague, Prof. David Soren, was there this summer and was offered the sanctuary of Apollo Hylates and the nearbye area by Karageorghis. I recall that Penn. worked there many years ago and thought that I might write to you about it.

Soren is primarily a Romanist, having worked recently in Tunisia and is interested in establishing a Roman pottery chronology, and I wondered if any of the records of the earlier excavations would be available to consult, (a la Philius:). I believe his co-Director, Diana Buitron, of the Walters, plans to get in touch with you sometime soon.

The specific areas of investigation have still to be definitely decided upon at Kourion. We thought, though, that before we make any definite commitments, I would consult with you about the site and about Penn's involvement there.

I hope this finds you well and not quite as busy as you usually are. Best wishes from me and Jane.

Sincerely yours,
