23rd November 1976Dr. G. Roger Edwards Associate Curator University Museum University of Pennsylvania 33rd and Spruce Streets Philadelphia Penn.19104 U.S.A.

Dr. Edwards,

I have been told by Dr. Vassos Karageorghis, director of the Service of Antiquities of Cyprus, to write to you with reference to the unpublished settlement at Kourion, "BAMBOULA".

The reason why I am interested in this site is that I am doing a research for my Ph.D. on the military architecture during the Bronze Age in Cyprus. I am working at my thesis under the supervision of Professor J.N.Coldstream of Bedford College, University of London. However, I am a former student of Université Laval, Québec (Canada) from where I got my B.A. and M.A. degrees in classical archaeology.

It became imperious to contact you on that matter since the final publication of the settlement has not come out yet although announced in Benson's book on the necropolis. As I should present my thesis by next summer, I was wondering whether you would be kind enough to provide me with some additional information concerning the military architecture of Bamboula, or more likely, to forward my letter to the archaeologist responsible for the publication of the settlement.
