May 9, 1956Mr. Christophis Polycorpou Curium House Episkopi, Limassol Cyprus.

Dear Christophi,

I gather from a letter from Mr. Edwards that the pots have now been sent to you from Nicosia and that you are at work on them. I hope the work is going well and that it will be possible to get the drawings to me fairly early in the summer as I must make up the plates for the publications before I leave here at the end of the summer.

I have searched again through all the drawings here and find none of A6, so I fear it will have to be done over again. It is a fragment of an Ionic volute, you know.

Some time ago I asked you to get me some information about the colour of paint, etc., on various pots in Nicosia. Since you are not doing the drawings in Nicosia I have asked Mr. Karageorghis to get me that information so you need not do anything more about it. However, there are still a few items in Episkopi about which I need to know something, and perhaps you could send me that.

First, I need a description of the type and colour of the clay of Sh757 which is a fragment of a pipe or a mould. Also does this have a tube running all the way through it, with a hole at the small end? If so, what is the diameter of this at the large and small ends, and is it square or round in section?

Second, what is the thickness of S19 (if this is not lost) - a little clay button. And what are the dimensions of S20, a terracotta loomweight, in section?

Then, of the bases which have been sent you from Nicosia I need to know the colour of paint of P213 (jug) and P244 (amphoriskos) both from Kal. T26, and whether P2209 (flask from Kal T40) has any traces of red paint.

Also, I believe you never sent me some information about Sh 616 which I requested in March: a description of the clay, with colour and type of sand or grits. And are this sherd and another vat fragment, Sh 604, handmade or wheelmade, if you can tell which?

Finally, were you ever able to take those 2 lumps of metal M10 and M11 to a laboratory for analysis?

Very best wishes and hoping I'll be able to see you when I get to Greece (and Cyprus, if politics allow).

Sincerely,
