UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Re: Estate of George H. McFadden, II, deceased

Philip C. Pendleton, Esq., Treasurer University of Pennsylvania 3320 Walnut Street Philadelphia 4, Pa.

Dear Philip:

In the second article of George H. McFadden's will, testator bequeathed "Unto such charity or charities as may be designated by my Executors hereinafter named, the sum of Ten Thousand ($10,000.) Dollars."

We have received word from John Kennedy Ewing, 3rd, Esq., that the Executors have selected the University Museum as one of the parties to participate in this request transmitting a check to the order of the "University Museum of Philadelphia" in the amount of $3,500.00, which we are forwarding to you herewith. With the check, we are enclosing two copies of a satisfaction of award. As The University Museum is an auxiliary division of The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, and not a separate corporation, the satisfaction of award should be executed in duplicate by you, as Treasurer of the University, and returned to Mr. Ewing. As no account has yet been filed, it is suggested that the date on the satisfaction of award be left blank.

We are sending copies of this letter to Dr. Rainey and to Mr. Ewing, and would appreciate your sending to us, for our file, a copy of your letter to Mr. Ewing acknowledging receipt of the check and returning the executed satisfaction of award, in duplicate.

Sincerely yours,

Eric A. McCouch
