Dear Deke:-
Thanks for the cheque for $35. I have credited this to the cash box. Thanks also for yours of November 12th.
With regard to Joe's work on the bluff its too early to give any real report. We have the foundation of an aqueduct - a large one - at the entrance to the bluff from the main road. There is a series of cisterns built up against it. They form part of the same building program as is made clear from the verticle pipe lines built within the concrete fill of the aqueduct wall to feed them. The cistern on top of the hill overlooking the Palace - Baths may prove to be one of these, as we suspect. There is another aqueduct, approximately parallel to the big one further southwest toward the sea, somewhat lower. It probably dates to another period. The main aqueduct wall measures approximately 2.60 m. at one point. I will send you a photo when I have one.
What about my photostat of the Curium pages of the PW?
Yours as ever,
