September 5, 1951Dear Rodney:
Just the old blow-by-blow report of my month in Cyprus. I'm afraid my heart wasn't so much in my work as it should have been and I didn't exactly burn on the heat for eight hours a day, but by fits and starts I did accomplish the following.
(1)Fales film file (objects).
(2)Newly cat'd objects added to master inventory.
(3)Gave C numbers to all George's coins 1934-1950, as per instructions he left me in a letter. These C numbers I could not post back into all the notebooks, as only XII-XVII arrived before I left. Vols. I-XI will have to be done later.
(4)In addition to George's, I got some of Pete's earlier coins from the Palace organized in the same way, and posted. Helped Saul, by labeling Bamboula prints after they arrived, but in few other ways, as there wasn't much I could for him in regard to houseplans, etc.
(5)Assembled full notebook texts for Philadelphia--of Bamboula Tombs and Kaloriziki Tombs, so the shelf groups can be done up right this winter.
(6)Left Nicosia copies of everything--inventory, Kal. tombs, Bam. tombs--with Mr. Megaw in Nicosia.
Sorry to say that the thing we wanted most to do--make Philadelphia Moo blanks for Bamboula tombs--sort of got lost in the shuffle as the tomb lists weren't available till late in the month when Fales and I finally could get together on the subject of obtaining a duplicate key to the green filecase. So all I did of those blanks was for Bamboula Tombs 1 and 2. But maybe it will serve as a pattern for someone else (if I don't get back myself.)
