4th May, 1949Dear Fro:-

Many thanks for your letter of April 27th which obviously crossed mine of 26th. I'm glad Alix has decided to come out here after all. I have said nothing about this to anyone but Mr. Hill, and he has promised not to say anything to anyone else, as I'm anxious to have my name kept out of it.

I was delighted to hear that you think Fales' report will serve its purpose of informing the Philosophical Society of work in progress on the bluff of Curium and that you are so optimistic about our receiving an additional $5.000. for the coming year. This is very encouraging news. Of course we can put up a member of the Board and I certainly hope there may be a chance of his coming out here to see our work. If a member of the Board should come, however, I hope very much it will be at a time that we are all here, including in particular Mr. Hill and myself. Mr. Hill may be leaving toward the end of June, and I must be home as early in July as possible as my mother will be quite alone. One of my sisters is already abroad and the other is sailing for France sometime in June with all her children. So they are counting on me to be home during the summer. I only wish you could find the time to come out too.

I was glad to hear that you and Mrs. Harrison have become buddies, as I am very fond of her. She is a wonderful person.

Yours as ever,
