the foregoing list, assuming that my estimates are not far out, that the great would be sufficient probably to complete the clearing of an entire group of buildings at Apollo and of the palace as well too on the bluff, whereas if restricted to the bluff alone, it would be adequate probably for one building only. But if there is no way out, and we can raise funds only for the bluff, I'm afraid excavations there will only tend to increase our commitments and bring us into the third year without funds to complete the job.

Since I began this letter I have come home to see my mother who is not well, on a short visit. I passed through Athens on the way and saw Mr. Hill who came down to the airfield to discuss Curium. He is writing Pete but asked me to tell you that he is strongly of the opinion that Apollo should have priority over all other sites, in view of what has already been done there. He wants very much to dig too on the bluff of Curium and is very pleased at the prospect of having funds to make this possible. How work is to continue in the meanwhile at Apollo be leaves to us in the hope that some satisfactory solution may be found.

I am now in New York, having just arrived, but will call you up as soon as I come to Philadelphia.

Hoping you will discuss this letter with Pete, and looking forward to seeing you both very soon.

As ever,

George H. McFadden
