CURIUM EXCAVATIONS EPISKOPI, LIMASSOL CYPRUS

I had a short stop over at Paris to see my elder sister and my brother who was there with his wife on a business trip. The weather was tropical and somewhat hotter than Athens, and the cost of living was everything people say and something more. Taxis, however, were still comparatively cheap, if you could find one. The traffic was such as I never remember seeing before in Paris, and jammed full of expensive American cars half of which seemed to be convertibles, owned, they tell me, by Frenchmen. Dollar credit would appear to be running into strange channels. Godfrey and to Pete Daniel both of whom I'll be writing within the next few days. Please remember me to Mrs. Godfrey and to

Sincerely yours,

[illegible] Autumn campaign... much time would be required... This is a hard thing to do with three full seasons Generous involved, but I think that to be a conservative of anticipated work might prove to be a conservative estimate.

In my letter to Mrs. Godfrey of June 4th I gave her an estimate of what I believed our minimum requirements would be to implement Program 1. This estimate was not intended to include any extensive excavations to work toward clearing the site of the province of Apollo would encroach upon Program 2 and require more funds and would add a few thousand dollars, probably to my estimate of $15,000.00 for the present fiscal year. When Mr. Hill comes down we'll attempt to make a careful calculation.

For your information I transferred from my own account to the account of Curium Excavations at the Ottoman Bank at Limassol the amount of 495 Cypriot 2,000 Pounds and eighty piastres, which is the equivalent of $2,000.00. Would you advise the University Treasurer. I enclose the bank statement for his files.

The Youngs tell me that this year they would prefer to have the full amount of their joint fellowship deposited to the credit of their ship of $3,200.00 deposited to the credit of their accounts with the Springfield Safe Deposit and Trust Company, 127 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. I am writing Mrs. Godfrey as I understand that this is In her department. I should think that half might be deposited as soon as funds are available, and the balance on the first of January. If this would have your own approval.
