Dear Pete, Virginia invited me to use up the rest of this sheet. I've just returned from a week in Nicosia where I was entered^\tain\ed quite royally by the Megaws - Peter in his new office as propaganda minister or what-have-you acquired a number of copies of this poem (which was written quite spontaneously) and he thought you might like one.

I've been in Cyprus just two weeks and am quite charmed, especially with Episkopi. It's quite an interesting contrast to Greece, I think - a little of Tarsus, only much, much nicer. We're still waiting for Mr. Hill, as V. has probably told you, before Virginia and I begin to dig. He and the "Samothrace" are expected almost any day now.

By the way, do you remember our conversation about chariot kraters, etc. at that School tea last spring and how disappointed I was when I heard you were working on them? Have you done much with them since? In odd moments I've done some work on them this year - though the odd moments haven't been awfully numerous, since I had the librarianship and a few other things thrust upon my shoulders this fall, and consequently I haven't gotten so far that I can't abandon the whole scheme if you have an opus already for publication on the same subject. Anyway, I still think it's quite an inspiring subject for a dissertation, if I can still have a portion of it. I spent quite a lot of my time in Nicosia in the Museum and discovered a couple of shelves of chariotkrater fragments, etc. among the Mycenaean vases in the apotheke. You've probably seen them too, though they looked as if they hadn't been touched by the hand of man since the museum acquired them! I found a number of joins and am getting them mended. Your B.M. frgs. here are quite exciting. I understand you are well on your way to a Ph. D. this June. Best of luck! As ever, Sally
