I attended to the reinforcing of the roof over the mosaic as soon as I arrived. The job was well done in two days by a carpenter recommended by the D.P.W. The epistylia needed reinforcing all around [handwritten: ✝] another truss was needed where the roof is hipped over the principle mosaic.
After the roof had been attended to, John Wyeth and I made a trip across the mountains via Prodromus to the Kyrinia district. We visited Hilarion and both agreed the view from there one of the finest sites we had ever seen anywhere. It would be fun to visit the other castles after we finish our work here in April. John Wyeth is very impressed with the country. He wants very much to paint the coast line as seen from the Basilica and has other interesting projects in mind as well. He wants to be remembered to you and is looking forward as I am to your arriving here in ten days or so.
A consignment of nuts just arrived here from my farm in Texas. It is not a very large one as I have distributed this year's initial produce, naturally a small one, among the various skeptical members of my family who haven't been taking my farm very seriously; but I hope they will have the tact to eat their words as well as the nuts.
