    Megaw reports that 'Ventris found that its text would not answer to the treatment which rendered Cretan Linear B texts into archaic Greek', of the Cypro-Minoan tablet found at Enkomi in a hearth in 1953; E. Sittig had since proposed a Greek reading (La Nouvelle Clio 1954, 470 f.).
