    Put in touch with Merrillees through James D. Sandwith; had inherited some of T. B. Sandwith's papers, gathered anecdotal and oral information about his life, showed Merrillees an 1868 photographic portrait of Sandwith (Schier and Schoefft, Alexandria) and supplied valuable details for the Sandwith study.
