Panagis Hadji Tophi

fl. 1890

Landowner, active in 1890.

Life and work

  1. 1890
A few tombs opened by the Cyprus Exploration Fund (Munro, Tubbs and Wroth, 1890 season) lay in his field south of the main Salamis necropolis group. All proved to be of much earlier date than the rest and 'every one had, however, as it turned out, been systematically robbed'.

  2. 1890
A round inscribed limestone cippus (inscription no. 1) was used as a gate-stone in his garden at 'Encomi'; another inscribed block (no. 45, blue marble) came from 'the field of Panagysis' adjoining Toumpa tou Michaili.
