Norman M. Bouton

Norman M. Bouton served at the American Embassy in Nicosia from June 1969 to June 1972, and the Cypriot antiquities that carry his name were acquired in those three years. He was born in 1933 and had been a lieutenant in the US Navy before he joined the Foreign Service². At the embassy he worked under William R. Crawford, then Deputy Chief of Mission².

The provenance recorded for his pieces reads that they were acquired by Bouton during his service in Cyprus in 1969 to 1972². They include a free-field bird jug and several other objects ranging from the Bronze Age to the Archaic period². The dealers or places from which he bought them are not recorded.

He died on 7 April 2018².
