Some of T. B. Sandwith's Cypriot antiquities were put up for sale in Liverpool 'at the shop of Mr Stonier, glass and earthenware dealer', explicitly to relieve famine (Reeve quoting a press notice, which says 'antiquaries of the town' selected the rarest and most illustrative pieces in the hope that the museum committee would buy them). The Liverpool museum's 1870 annual report records the purchase of 'Ten specimens of Graeco-Phoenician Pottery and Glass found at Cyprus'.
