Life and work
- 1991The 35 silver pendants, plaques and fragments of Kourion Tomb 73 (GR 1991.12-11.1-35; seventh century BC, excavated in Cyprus) were sent to the Department of Conservation for investigative cleaning and repair before cataloguing by D.M. Bailey. Work included radiography, binocular microscopy (to x45), manual removal of corrosion, consolidation and repair; X-ray diffraction of corrosion products by Lorna Lee (Conservation Research Group). Hockey found the 16 Bes pendants were of two silver sheets, the 13 small plaques bore gold leaf under the corrosion.
