- 26 September 1935Received John Hilton's 'Memorial' questioning the grounds of his dismissal as Director of Antiquities; he was Secretary of State at the time of the dismissal.

- c. 1936Later wrote to Hilton's father that no official stigma should attach to Hilton: he had done the antiquities work very well, but tourism duties attached to the post and he was not qualified for those. Stanley-Price calls this a re-writing of the history.
