Jannic Durand
fl. 2011–2012
Scholar and curator, active 2011–2012.
Life and work
- 2011Announced the Louvre exhibition 'Chypre médiévale' (Richelieu space, October 2012), timed with Cyprus's EU presidency: the first Louvre exhibition on the subject and the first in France in over twenty years, with just over 150 works from about ten Cypriot museums and from the archbishopric of Nicosia, the bishoprics of Paphos, Limassol, Morphou and Tamassos-Oreinis and Kykkos monastery, plus loans from French, Italian, American and British public collections and Bellini's portrait of Queen Cornaro from Budapest. He says an antiquity-themed show would have been simpler but, in agreement with the Cypriot authorities, the medieval period (4th century to the Ottoman conquest of 1570) was chosen.
