The Ashmolean's comprehensive redevelopment opened in 2009 with the Cypriot collection in a double-floored gallery. Kiely says the Aegean and Near Eastern galleries were curated respectively by Dr Yannis Galanakis and Dr Jack Green; a long-term British Museum loan, a Mycenaean 'chariot crater' from Maroni, is used as a bridge between them.
