B. H. Hill was allowed briefly to examine a stele (honorific decree of a gymnasium of Kourion, found 1934 by villagers on the Acropolis) in Hassan Kaya Effendi's house; Hill transcribed a tracing made by the Turkish school, lent for the night. The stone then vanished, said by Hassan to have been returned to its owner and buried in an unknown place.
