Wrote letter No. 10/80 (subject: antique smuggling) to the Ministry. As printed in Perishing Cyprus, it says that on the previous morning Ekrem Yesilada, Isfendiyar Rifat and the Italian Bellazi visited him about the smuggling incident in which Bellazi's name was involved; Bellazi asked for the antiques to be given to him, and Yesilada and Isfendiyar Bey asked him to return eight pieces (listed in correspondence of 22.9.80, No. 12/80) and allow Bellazi to take them out of the country. The article reports that Altay said article 51 of the Antiquities Law (35/1975) must be applied against them.
