- 1929Short, choleric foreman at the Karpassos camp set up by Erik Sjöqvist's party after Lapithos; ran the work, directed Turkish workmen from Galinoporni and Korovia, hunted fish and crabs, and was 'a great story-teller, very nimble but hunched and bowed from all his grave-digging'. Gjerstad's play 'kingdom of World's End' made him 'king'.
