Life and work
- 1892Corresponded from Constantinople with Walter Sendall in Cyprus (Colonial Office records C.O. 67/76, 14 Oct. 1892; C.O. 67/77, 30 Nov. 1892). The Ottoman Minister of Foreign Affairs asked that all export of antiquities from Cyprus be stopped, citing the 1884 Ottoman law; Sendall replied that the 1884 law post-dated the British occupation and did not apply to Cyprus. The text names Sir Austen Layard as the ambassador; the note names Ford.
