    Named as one of three British Museum Keepers (with Sidney Colvin and Alexander Murray) on the founding committee of the Cyprus Exploration Fund; the BM gave no money initially but was to have first choice of the finds.

    Principal Librarian of the British Museum (Director also from 1898), the period of the Turner Bequest excavations in Cyprus.
