    German traveller who stayed at Nea Paphos; Maier and Karageorghis quote his remark that Ktima, a mile away, was 'more jolly and fertile and safer from Turks and pirates than Paphos'.

    Writing that Paphos had a beautiful palace on the hill is interpreted by J. Mlynarczyk as the late-antique House of Aion near the port and by G. Vörös as temple columns on Fanari Hill (Papuci-Wladyka 2020, Miszk ch. 2.2).
