About the video

This is the closing session of Under the Mediterranean, the Honor Frost Foundation Conference on Mediterranean Maritime Archaeology held at the University of Cyprus in October 2017. Co-organisers Stella Demesticha and Lucy Blue open with arrangements for the post-conference excursions to Amathus, the Thalassa Museum in Ayia Napa, and the Kyrenia ship replica.

Giulia Boetto of the Centre Camille Jullian then announces the 15th International Symposium on Boat and Ship Archaeology (ISBSA 15), to be held in October 2018 at the Mucem in Marseille and the Musée d'Arles Antiques, and a student organiser announces the Maritime Archaeology Graduate Symposium (MAGS 2018) in Oxford for February 2018.

Lucy Blue outlines plans to continue Under the Mediterranean as a conference series every three or four years in the regions supported by the foundation, and sets out peer-reviewed publication plans for the proceedings dedicated to the memory of Honor Frost. She also announces a trustees' prize for the best poster presentation and notes alternative publication options in the International Journal of Nautical Archaeology (IJNA), the Journal of Maritime Archaeology, and a digital humanities volume edited by Jon Henderson.

Miranda Richardson, editor of the IJNA, awards the open-access IJNA Honor Frost Foundation Prize to Deborah Cvikel of the Recanati Institute at the University of Haifa for her 2016 article on the 19th-century Akko Tower Wreck. Cvikel briefly thanks the sponsors and pays tribute to her teachers Elisha Linder and Avner Raban, before Demesticha and Blue close the 102-paper conference by thanking the student volunteers and researchers of the organising team.
