About

Plektron Fine Arts AG is a Zurich dealer in ancient Mediterranean art, incorporated in Zurich on 3 February 2016 with Ludovic Marock as sole board member7. According to the gallery, Marock worked at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Sotheby's and Christie's (as an antiquities specialist in Zurich from 2009 to 2015) and took part in excavations on Delos and Monte Iato2,5. The firm's work centres on Greek, Roman and Etruscan art. It is a member of IADAA2. The gallery says it has sold to the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum, the Staatliche Antikensammlung und Glyptothek in Munich and the Umi Mori Museum in Japan, and has lent to exhibitions in Munich (2019 to 2020) and Basel (2022 to 2023)5. Its events page records fairs from Salzburg and Paris in 2017 through Brussels, Madrid and The Winter Show in New York, to TEFAF Maastricht (2020, then 2022 to 2026), Opus Ancient Arts in Paris and Antike in Basel6.

The Cypriot piece on its website is a terracotta plank idol of Early Cypriot III to Middle Cypriot I, c. 2000 to 1800 BC, 27 cm high, with an orange-red slip and incised hatching and dots. The gallery showed it at TEFAF Maastricht in March 2020 and at Antike in Basel in November 2020 and marks it sold4. Its printed provenance names Ars Antiqua, Geneva, in 1984 or 1985 or earlier, then a Swiss private collection, then a deposit at the Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig from 2005 to 20194.
