History

  1. 1967–1968
    Desmond Morris was Director of the ICA while he began collecting Cypriot antiquities, after seeing a London sale of over a hundred Cypriot pieces in autumn 1967. He says his questions about stylization and abstraction in modern art led him to prehistoric Cypriot artefacts. The ICA itself held no Cypriot material in this source.
