- 7 August 1980An Italian diver, Sergio Galloni, found a marble Artemis Ephesia statuette in the sea off Salamis; it is now the museum's best-known object.
- 2018Fragments of the Artemis statue found in 2017 were conserved and rejoined to the statue under director Fuat Azimli.
