Galerie Harmakhis takes its name from the Great Sphinx, Horus in the Horizon4. According to the gallery, Jacques Billen founded it in 1988 in the Sablon, the antiques district of Brussels. Billen is a graduate of the Université catholique de Louvain in art history and archaeology, oriental philology and history1.
The gallery deals in Egyptian and Classical antiquities and some Near Eastern pieces.
