The project
An unlooted Cypro-Archaic rock-cut tomb, MLA 1943, Tomb 78, came to light in plot 406 at Pyrga during construction of a private residence, and the Department of Antiquities excavated it in 20081. Efthymia Alphas, Contract Archaeological Officer, directed the work1. The tomb held three skeletons in very poor preservation, 12 Cypro-Archaic clay vessels and an open-type lamp1. The annual report for 2008 states that the artefacts, including the skeletal material, were catalogued in the Larnaka District Museum1.
