The project
In 1966 M. Loulloupis and A. Christodoulou of the Archaeological Exploration Section excavated four tombs at Korypas, about 1 km west of Meniko; the report says that a necropolis there had not been known before1. Tomb 3 held Cypro-Geometric III pottery, mainly Black-on-Red I (III) and Bichrome III, with a rare Black-on-Red jar (C.S. 1552) that has a flattened biconical body and two small horizontal handles1. Finds from two tombs damaged by a bulldozer, dated to Cypro-Archaic II, could not be assigned between them1. Tomb 4, damaged during levelling (C.S. 1602), was dated either to Cypro-Archaic I or II and produced a Bichrome skyphos imitating East Greek skyphoi1. The report states that the material was kept in the premises of the Archaeological Exploration Section1.
