The project
At Maroni-Maries in 2000, a rescue project recorded two Early Cypriot tombs, which Steel reports under the spelling Maroni-Maraes1. T. 1/2000 was a small oval pit whose 18 Red Polished vessels, bowls, jugs and two basins, lay in situ on the floor; the skeletal remains were very poorly preserved. T. 2/2000 had been largely destroyed by a bulldozer, and fragments from two Red Polished vessels were recovered1.
