The project
In 1983 the Department of Antiquities excavated two Cypro-Archaic II tombs in a cemetery at Kornos that was already known, at the locality called Sipira or Asproyia1. Tomb 5 (MLA 1176) contained 25 vessels and an iron knife; Tomb 6 (MLA 1177) yielded 24 vessels. Two White Painted V vessels from Tomb 5 were illustrated: a jug decorated with stylized tree motifs, 16.8 cm high, and a feeding bottle with a lateral spout and basket handle, 9.7 cm high1. The assemblage numbers are those of the Musée régional de Larnaca; no division or later transfer of the finds is recorded1. The earlier work at the cemetery that the report cites is that of M. Loulloupis, in RDAC (1967)1.
