The project
Levelling by the Agriculture Service at Xynithes, about 300 metres east of Korakou, brought a new Archaic cemetery to light, and in 1964 the Service des Antiquités systematically excavated four small chamber tombs, numbered 1 to 41. Michael Loulloupis and A. Christodoulou, the two archaeologists appointed to vacancies in the Archaeological Exploration Section, are named in the report with the work1. The report dates the material from Cypro-Archaic II to Cypro-Classical I; the pottery includes White-Painted IV-V, Bichrome IV, Black-on-Red II-III (IV-V) and Plain White V, and other finds are iron knives, silver rings and earrings, and two bronze fibulae1.
