The project
In 1951 Arthur Hubert Stanley Megaw excavated at Kolossi, investigating remains that predate the fifteenth-century building1. The published account describes a well-head southeast of the keep, reached by staircases inside what appears to have been a semicircular tower1. Fragments of earlier walls southeast and southwest of the keep are, according to Olympios, being excavated and studied by the Department of Antiquities; they have been variously dated to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and research is ongoing1.
