The project
John Linton Myres is recorded at Kition-Sotiros in 1910, where a Cypro-Geometric I tomb held an early bronze set of three obeloi1. Myres published "A Tomb of the Early Iron Age from Kition in Cyprus, containing Bronze Examples of the 'Sigynna' or Cypriote Javelin" in the Liverpool Annals of Archaeology and Anthropology 3 (1910)2. In 1913 he made a minor excavation at Bamboula, the site of the Acropolis of Kition3. Karageorghis reports that Myres found no material earlier than about 1000 BC there, apart from one Late Minoan sherd4. Birmingham reports that Myres found a city wall at the south end of the tell with a pottery deposit piled against it. Birmingham notes that Myres dated the wall to about 700 BC5.
