The project
In 1954 a tomb found during building operations near the police station at Kythrea (Chytroi) revealed a Geometric cemetery1. The tomb had been disturbed at first. In the hills north of Kythrea, at Asprovouno, surface finds of vase wasters and terracottas of seventh-century style, with traces of burning, led Megaw to suggest an ancient potter's factory1. The pottery salvaged from the tomb for the Cyprus Museum covered Cypro-Geometric I and II and included three duck-shaped vases1.
